Krishna
Biografía
Krishna is revered in Gaudiya Vaishnavism as the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the original source of all divine manifestations. He is understood as the ultimate reality, possessing complete eternity, knowledge, beauty, power, and bliss. While He appears in different ages to guide humanity and protect righteousness, His eternal nature remains beyond material limitations.
The principal scriptures describing Krishna are the Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad-Bhagavatam. In the Bhagavad-gita, Krishna reveals profound teachings concerning the soul, devotion, duty, and the relationship between the individual being and the Supreme. The Srimad-Bhagavatam, particularly its Tenth Canto, narrates His transcendental pastimes in Vrindavan, Mathura, and Dvaraka.
Within the bhakti traditions, Krishna is not viewed merely as the creator or ruler of the cosmos, but as the ultimate object of divine love. Devotional practices such as chanting His holy names, hearing about His activities, worship, and service are intended to awaken the soul’s dormant relationship with Him. This loving connection is considered the essence of spiritual life.
Gaudiya theology places special emphasis on Krishna’s Vrindavan pastimes, where the highest expressions of divine love are revealed. The relationship between Krishna and Srimati Radharani is understood as the supreme manifestation of prema and serves as a central theme in devotional literature and practice.
For centuries, Krishna has inspired philosophical reflection, sacred literature, music, art, and devotional movements throughout India and beyond. He remains one of the most influential and beloved figures in the Hindu spiritual tradition and the central focus of countless practitioners of bhakti worldwide.
