Karma

Karma is the law of moral causation described in Vedic thought. It teaches that every intentional action produces consequences that shape future experiences, either in the present life or in future births. The Sanskrit word karma literally means “action,” but it also includes the results generated by those actions. Thoughts, words, and deeds all contribute to the formation of future circumstances and spiritual development. In Vaishnava philosophy, karma operates under divine supervision and forms part of the cosmic order. It is neither random fate nor divine punishment. Rather, it reflects the choices made by living beings and the natural consequences arising from them. The doctrine of karma is closely connected to samsara, the cycle of repeated birth and death. As long as karmic reactions remain unresolved, the soul continues to experience material existence. Although righteous actions can produce favorable outcomes, Vaishnava teachings emphasize that the ultimate goal is not merely good karma but freedom from karmic bondage. This liberation is attained through spiritual realization and devotion to Bhagavan.
