Paramparā
Parampara refers to the disciplic succession through which spiritual knowledge is passed from teacher to student across generations. It is a foundational principle in many Hindu traditions and serves as a safeguard for the preservation of authentic teachings.
According to Vedic thought, spiritual wisdom is not merely the product of intellectual speculation but is transmitted through a living chain of realized teachers. The Bhagavad-gita highlights this concept by explaining that transcendental knowledge was originally passed down through successive generations before becoming obscured over time.
In Gaudiya Vaishnavism, parampara links present-day practitioners to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and ultimately to Krishna. This lineage preserves theological understanding, devotional practices, and spiritual discipline.
More than a historical record, parampara represents a living tradition in which sacred knowledge continues to be studied, practiced, and shared from one generation to the next.
