Guru-parampara

Guru-parampara

Guru-parampara refers to the uninterrupted lineage of spiritual teachers through which spiritual knowledge is transmitted down through generations. In Indian philosophical and spiritual traditions, particularly Vaishnavism, this disciplic succession is vital for maintaining the authenticity and theological purity of the teachings. According to sacred texts like the Bhagavad-gita, transcendental knowledge (divya-jnana) cannot be acquired through empirical research or mental speculation. It must be received from a bona fide chain of teachers originating from the Supreme Lord Himself. Each spiritual master (guru) in the succession functions as a transparent medium, delivering the message intact without additions or alterations. Initiation (diksha) into a recognized guru-parampara connects the student directly to this reservoir of spiritual wisdom. Through submissive inquiry, service, and guidance from a self-realized soul, the aspirant is able to navigate the path of devotion and make genuine spiritual progress. This lineage provides a spiritual lifeline, ensuring that the teachings remain fresh, powerful, and capable of delivering the highest realizations to the student.
