Guru-parampara refers to the uninterrupted lineage of spiritual teachers through which spiritual knowledge is transmitted down through generations. In Indian philosophical and spiritual traditions, particularly Vaishnavism, this disciplic succession is vital for maintaining the authenticity and theological purity of the teachings. According to sacred texts like the Bhagavad-gita, transcendental knowledge (divya-jnana) cannot be acquired through empirical research or mental speculation. It must be received from a bona fide chain of teachers originating from the Supreme Lord Himself.
