Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam
The Srimad-Bhagavatam, also known as the Bhagavata Purana, is one of the most revered scriptures of Hinduism and a foundational text for Vaishnava traditions. Traditionally attributed to Vyasa, it consists of twelve books covering theology, cosmology, ethics, and devotion.
The text narrates the activities of divine incarnations, sages, kings, and devotees while presenting a comprehensive vision of reality centered on Bhagavan. Its most celebrated sections recount the life and pastimes of Kṛṣṇa, particularly those associated with Vrindavan.
In Gaudiya Vaishnavism, the Srimad-Bhagavatam is regarded as the mature expression of Vedic wisdom. Its teachings emphasize pure devotion as the highest spiritual goal and the ultimate means of attaining divine realization.
The work has profoundly influenced religious thought, literature, music, and devotional culture throughout South Asia.
