Kalki

Kalki is the tenth and final principal incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the classical Dashavatara list, whose appearance is prophesied for the end of the current age of Kali-yuga. As detailed in the Twelfth Canto of the Srimad-Bhagavatam and the Kalki Purana, Kalki will appear in the dynasty of Shambhala as a warrior mounted on a white horse (Devadatta), wielding a blazing sword. In that distant era, human society will have descended to the lowest level of moral, physical, and spiritual degradation; religion will have disappeared, and rulers will have become mere bandits. Kalki will come not to preach spiritual knowledge, as humanity will no longer be capable of understanding it, but to annihilate the impious and purify the Earth, marking the end of Kali-yuga and the beginning of a new golden age (Satyayuga). In Vaishnava theology, the prophecy of Kalki offers solace and hope by assuring that evil and decay do not have the final word, and that God intervenes definitively to restore cosmic harmony. Meditation on Kalki inspires the devotee to remain firm in bhakti-yoga practice, knowing that the passage of time is under the supreme control of Bhagavan.
